My Bead Embroidery Workshop at Artshack
Collaborating with Artist Michael Dajour

I partnered with Brooklyn-based artist Michael Dajour to bring a bead embroidery workshop to life at Artshack Cafe. It was a project close to my heart—mixing art, history, and hands-on making in a space that’s all about creativity and community.

We started with a brief dive into the history of bead embroidery, then jumped into a demo where I shared techniques I’ve honed over the years. Michael designed a simple, thoughtful menu for the evening—seasonal drinks and snacks that kept the vibe relaxed and social.

From there, I guided attendees as they stitched their own brooches, patches, pins, or magnets. Some had never threaded a needle before; others brought their own flair to the designs.

What stood out was how everyone leaned into the process—asking questions, sharing ideas, and laughing over the occasional tangled thread.

  • It wasn’t about perfection. It was about trying something new, leaving with a piece you made, and maybe a few connections you didn’t expect. A solid reminder of why I love teaching.
